Internships at Alaska range in a wide variety of positions throughout different departments in the company and are based in three cities. See what interns from throughout the airline have to say about the experience of interning at Alaska.
Since 2013, SCA’s NPS Academy Alaska has provided career development internships for under-represented, diverse, and rural Alaskan residents interested in conservation. Interns attend a week-long orientation over spring break and serve in 12-week summer internships tailored to various career tracks within the National Park Service. Check out our video to hear from past interns about how they ‘found their park’ in Alaska. The Student Conservation association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. You can help us teach future generations of young Americans about the field of conservation! http://www.permies.com There are thousands of people willing to work on organic/permaculture farms for free or nearly free. Many farmers have explored this path and found it too frustrating and have elected to no longer do this. Here are two well known farmers that have had agreat success and this is their advice to farmers considering this path. Doug Bullock and Jacqueline Freeman give advice to farmers thinking of bringing some interns/wwoofers onto their farm. I get a slice of Doug Bullock's lunch time as he takes a break from being the guest instructor for a permaculture design course taught by Toby Hemenway. The Bullock Brothers Permaculture Homestead (http://www.permacultureportal.com) is famous for being a powerful intern magnet. Interns actually pay to go there. As...

After cruising out to the West Coast from Pennsylvania in his VW Bus for a photography internship, James Barkman has set his sights on living on his own terms. For him this means perfecting his craft by hunting down photo-ops full time in his Westfalia with Surfboards on top and a Dual-Sport Motorcycle in tow. *DISCLAIMER: DO NOT CLIMB ON POWER LINE TOWERS. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. James, 22, might not be as conventional when it comes to his living arrangements, but creating a space to be creative in the form of his Westfalia, has pushed him further than he ever thought he'd go. Balancing maintenance and repairs on the Westy with a promising career in photography are just a few of the many things the talented Mr. Barkman excels at, and we wish him the best of luck has he continues to grow ...

Snickers is a six year old male porcupine who lives at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage, AK. He was found alone- either orphaned or temporarily left alone by his mother as a porcupette, or baby porcupine. He is very friendly and loves to play with Center staff and climb on them! This is a video showcasing his climbing skills as he climbs all over me. He wants to climb up people every chance he gets! About the video: I make occasional grunting noises because it was cold and I was carrying 30 lb. Snickers on one arm and filming myself with a nearly 3 lb. camera with the other hand. It was difficult. Snickers, like all North American porcupines, has quills, about 30,000 of them. They fall out naturally every now and then, like your hair, and regrow. They do not shoot qui...

Travel video about destination Denali National Park in Alaska. Denali National Park is located about six hundred and thirty miles from the southern coast of Alaska and is nine thousand six hundred square miles of original Sub-Arctic wilderness. The history of the region began millions of years ago when mighty tectonic plates collided. The force of the collision folded the granite and sedimentary rock together at a huge elevation which subsequently formed the highest mountain in North America, Mount Mckinley. The coniferous forests consist primarily of birch and fir and deciduous trees and shrubs cover the stone-based valleys. An amazing variety of bushes, herbs and flowers turn the landscape into an array of bright colour. On the thin humus above the permafrost soil there’s vegetation ...
